MAYBERRY DAUTRICH.
Mayberry Dautrich, captain of the canal boat Congress, who was drowned in the Schuylkill river, near the Spring Garden street bridge, Philadelphia, was a native of this city and a boatman since a boy. For the past three years he was in the employ of Joseph T. Hendren, a contracting boatman, of Philadelphia. The Congress was used to haul slag and lumber from Philadelphia to Manayunk.
Mr. Dautrich was 61 years of age and is survived by two sons, Samuel and Levi; also these brothers: Frank, Mahlon, Samuel and Amos Dautrich, and a sister, Mrs. Marry Hartline, all of this city. During the Civil War, Mr. Dautrich served in Company H, Eighty-eighth Pennsylvania regiment. Prior to leaving this city he was an active member of the Union Veteran Legion.
