Mrs. Birdie DEATON , 71, of Yellow Springs, formerly of Springfield, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday in City Hospital where she had been a patient four days. She had been in failing health since suffering a coronary attack last March. She was the widow of Glenn DEATON , Yellow Springs hardware store proprietor who was killed when struck by a car in 1949. She lived at 120 E. Limestonest., Yellow Springs. She was born Dec. 28, 1890, in Enon, a daughter of Charles and Elizabeth MUMMA SWANEY. She lived in Springfield before moving to Yellow Springs in1937. Mrs. DEATON was a member of the Yellow Springs Methodist Church and Home City Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Springfield. Surviving are a son, Wilbur W. DEATON of Yellow Springs, owner of the Deaton Hardware; a brother, Henry SWANEY of Toledo, and two grandchildren, Melanie and Randall DEATON of Yellow Springs. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Yellow SpringsMethodist Church by the Rev. Donald MORGAN, pastor. Burial will be in NewCarlisle Cemetery. Friends may call at the Coffman funeral home, Yellow Springs, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. The body will lie in state in the church from noon Tuesday until services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Association.
