Sherley Lewis Mumaw, 82, passed away in New Port Richey, FL on July 17, 2018 from complications after heart surgery. He was born August 5, 1935 in Strasburg, VA to the late Abner H. Mumaw and Garphilia I. Mumaw. He is preceded in death by his son Scot Harrison Mumaw and his beloved dog Sam. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn; and daughter, Vivian Mumaw; and grandson, Jeffrey Fischer; stepchildren, David (Susie) Wolding, Darin (LaDonna) Wolding, Denise Wolding; step grandchildren, Samson, Eli, Atherton and Augie Wolding. Sherley graduated from Strasburg High School and Lynchburg College in Virginia. After graduating he served in the U.S. Army where he was proud to work in the Pentagon. Following long careers with Allis Chalmers Corp. and Dispatch Consumer Services, Sherley retired to New Port Richey, FL where he continued to pursue his love of golf. He was a member of York Lodge #563, Aladdin Shrine, Agonis Club, Charity Newsies and Grove City Elks. He loved the New York Yankees and the O.S.U. Buckeyes, having decorated his golf cart for the Buckeyes! Sherley was a true southern gentleman and will be deeply missed by all his wonderful friends. There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at York Golf Club, 7459 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43235 from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sherley's memory to any Shriners Hospital for Children.
