John E. Mumaw
John E. Mumaw, 78, died Friday, April 20, 2007, at the residence of his daughter.
Born June 7, 1928, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. Mumaw and Fanny Mowery Mumaw.
Mr. Mumaw retired as a truck driver with O'Boyle Tank Lines. He also retired from the U.S. Army.
He was of the Protestant Faith faith. He was a member of Jackson-Perks American Legion Post No. 71, Charles Town, VFW Memorial Post No. 3522, Charles Town.
He was an avid fan and supporter of the Turf Fast Pitch Softball Team and he loved his daughter's horses.
Mr. Mumaw served in the U.S. Army during Korea where he received the following medals: Army of Occupation Medal (Korea) and a Purple Heart Medal.
He is survived by his wife, Lacie J. Jenkins Mumaw at home to whom he was married 49 years. He is also survived by one brother, Charles Mumaw, of Woodstock, Va.; one daughter, Brenda Lee Mumaw of Charles Town; one son, Daniels V. Mumaw of Harpers Ferry; one granddaughter, Sherry Jackson of Charles Town; and a very close friend, Eloise Vincent of Harpers Ferry.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Mumaw.
Services will be held at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, Monday, April 23, 2007, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Henry Christie officiating. Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.
Friends will be received at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.
