Notes:
Baltimore (Maryland) Sun, Monday, February 6, 1843:
Departed this life on the 5th inst., Samuel Sewell Mumma, aged 13 months, the son of William and Sarah Mumma.
The friends and acquaintance (sic) are respectfully invited to attend his funeral this (Monday) afternoon at 3 o'clock, on the York Avenue.
Hear what the voice from Heaven proclaims
For all the pious dead:
Sweet is the Saviour of their names,
And soft their sleeping bed.
They die in Jesus, and are blessed---
How kind their slumbers are---
From sufferings and from sin released,
And freed from every snare.
Far from this world of toil and strife,
They're present with the Lord;
The labors of their mortal life
End in a large reward.
Short was my time, strong my pain---
To rest in Christ is now my gain;
Dry up your tears and weep nor more---
I am not lost, but gone before.
