LYONS -- Lona Marie Evans, 86, Lyons, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at a Hutchinson hospital.
She was born May 27, 1913, at Garnett, the daughter of Clarence M. and Malissia Belle Stewart Mumma. She had lived in Dighton, and graduated from Dighton High School. She moved to Lyons in 1932.
Mrs. Evans was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lyons, and American Baptist Women of the church, and she helped establish the Lyons Church Women's Thrift Shop in Lyons.
She married Joe H. Evans on June 19, 1932, in Lyons. He preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1973.
Survivors include four sons, Ted J. Evans, Sapulpa, Okla., Max S. Evans, Kingwood, Texas, Earl E. Evans, Pawnee Roak, and Dan L. Evans, Geneseo; two daughters, Joyce M. DeJulio-Burr, Salina, and Bonnie S. Walker, Topeka; three brothers, Carl Mumma, Dighton, Bill Mumma, Independence, and Clarence Mumma, Edwardsville, Mo.; a sister, Shirley Merritt, Kansas City, Kan.; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Lyons.
Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church in Lyons, or to the Lyons Church Women's Thrift Shop, or to the Lyons Good Samaritan Center, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
