On Monday, August 30, 2010, Elizabeth (Mumma) McDonald, 92, passed away in Morro Bay, Calif.
She was born on Monday, November 26, 1917 in Campbell, CA, and was the daughter of Florence Mumma and Maxwell Mumma.
Elizabeth and her brother, Harold J. Mumma, were raised on their parent's apricot and prune ranch and attended Santa Clara Valley schools.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at San Jose State College and attended the Chouinard Art Institution in Los Angeles.
In 1939, Elizabeth married Melvin Hall McDonald, in Carmel, Calif.
During World War II, she worked for the United States Navy at Moffatt Field designing blimps.
They moved to San Luis Obispo, CA, in 1959 when Melvin was transferred to Crocker Bank on Monterey Street.
Elizabeth and Melvin served on committees that created the San Luis Obispo Art Center and Mission Plaza. Betty was president of the San Luis Obispo Art Association and a member of the Monday Club, Children's Home Society and University Women.
They retired in 1980 and moved to their new Lodge Hill home in Cambria, CA.
Mrs. McDonald is survived by sons, Jim McDonald, of Egan, Minn, and Bob McDonald, of Cambria, CA, daughter, Laurie (McDonald) Schricker, of Cardiff, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence Mumma and Maxwell Mumma, husband, Melvin Hall McDonald, brother, Harold J. Mumma.
