(Research):Sarah's maiden name has also been listed as Loughery (in the marriage record) or Lincoln (per Jay Roberts' research). I am taking McGlaughlin because it was on her son's death certificate as reported by her grandson--though there is a lot of room for error here. Possibly her name was written wrong in the marriage record and was closer to McGlaughlin or McLaughlin than Loughery. I can find no McGlaughlins or Lougherys in the Ross Co. 1840 census. The closest I could find is Thomas McGarraugh.
Did Sarah and Samuel Sr. divorce or separate? Samuel Sr. has two children by another spouse by 1862 and Sarah is still living as late as the 1870 census. Three possibilities: the 1880 census is wrong in its identification of relationships, Samuel and Sarah divorced, or Samuel and Sarah separated and Elizabeth was a common law wife.
