the York County-born son of Lewis Kesselring and the husband of Amanda Mumma Kesselring. In 1860, he was a painter living in Berwick Township, Adams County. He stood 5' 7" tall and had dark hair and gray eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in New Oxford August 29, 1864, with Co. C, 202nd Pa Inf, serving at the rank of private until honorably discharged with his company on August
3, 1865.
