Notes:
Some of the following information is from Liz Santarelli l_santarelli@comcast.net
Jacob's death is recorded in the Licking County Death Records Book 1, 1874-1882 L-Z page 344.
"Straw Jacob Month blank/ Date blank/ 1882, Male, 78yrs, 7mo, and 24day old"
Beth Santore of Columbus Ohio. She found the following in Liberty township, Fairfield County records - Jacob Straw buried in Fletcher Chapel Cemetery: Straw, Jacob died Aug 13, 1882, 72 years, 7 months, amd 21 days . So, there is a difference of 6 years and a few days between the records. All census records suggest a birth year of 1803 which matches the Licking County records.
Note by Doug Mumma. I believe that Jacob had two wives based on the death certificates of his children. Mary Ann's death certificate clearly states that her mother was a Catherine Drake, born in PA. The information on the death certificate of her sister, Jane Straw Mumaw was provided by her son, Bruce Mumaw. Bruce did not know where his mother's mother was born nor what her name was. This would be consistent with a second marriage for Jacob and the name of his first wife was not well known in the family. Just a guess.
