Dutton Cutchall's daughter, Sarah Margaret Cutchall Mellott, my grandmother [T. O. H.] told me that her father was shot in the leg in action during the Civil War, and that he suffered with this wound, the complications from which led to his death years later. The wound caused him suffering, which she remembered and discussed with me. One source referred to him as "Dutton who limped."
