His obituary reads:
STRAIT
Willaim A. Strait, died at his home at Clear Ridge, Pa., Friday April 16th, aged thirty-eight years. Mr. Strait, up until a few weeks ago, was in robust health. The cause of his death was an acute form of brights disease and rheumatism. His death was a great shock to his family and friends as he was confined to his bed but a few days. Mr. Strait was the oldest son of Mr. And Mrs. Jacob Strait, Hustontown, and was twice married. His first marriage was to Sadie Mumma, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Mumma of Licking Creek township, who died in Feb 1897. To this union he is survived by one child, a daughter.
On Nov 8, 1899, he was married to Malinda J. Edwards, daughter of the late William Edwards of Taylor township, who with three small children survive, the eldest child being about nine years of age. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters, Samual J., Saluvia; David F., Laidig; Emma, wife of Robert Mellott, Big Cove Tannery; and Maggie, married and residing in Bedford county.
When quite young he united with the M. E. Church at Green Hill, and was a kind father and a good citizen. By his industry, he had secured a comfortable home on Clear Ridge. He will be greatly missed in the community in which he lived. The sympathy of the entire county goes out to this young widow, who has lost a kind husband, and to these young orphans who have lost a kind and indulgent father. The funeral took place Sunday. Interment in Clear Ridge cemetery, Rev. Moyer, officiating. Fulton Democrat April 22, 1909
