A type of obituary was found in the The Fulton Democrat Febraury 12, 1897 issue:
"Sadie B. M. Strait
Sadie B. M. Strait, wife of Mr. W. Strait, of Licking Creek township, peacefully passed, from life, February 4, 1897, at the early age of 23 years and 23 days. Mrs. Strait was a member of the M. E. church, had many friends, and she always spoke well of her neighbors. She was only confined to her room a few weeks, and was always calm, had a thoughtful mind, and a bright hope in a saving faith in her God. In her last hour with her friends here, she prayed for the Lord to take her home. On being asked if she was ready, she answered, "I want to go today." She, each day, walked in the light and towards the light that broke through from the illuminated land - each day manna fed, love comforted, glory beckened, and had an inward assurance that in a little while the door of welcome to the Father's house should swing wide open and she would cross the threshold, where all questionings come to a pause, and all weariness finds alleviation in divine refreshment; where all great and pure longings are satisfied, and all pain is forgotten; all sightings give way to songs, and every weight of anxiety is thrown off; every pang of agony of agony ceases, and all experiences forever more is of the rest that remaineth. Hers is of the crown that crowneth; the joy that rejoiceth; the fullness that filleth the people of God. Reader, how blessed it is that there is some real refuge of comfort for us in the midst of our distresses; some real victory for us over these troubles that annoy and hinder and grieve. There are many beautiful thing in this world - many, very sweet joys in this life; but to our friend who has just passed before, we anticipate that there are more beautiful thing and sweeter joys in the world and life beyond. FRIEND"
