Mrs. Martha Lilly Moomaw
Mrs. Martha F. Lilly Moomaw, 81, of Shady Springs, died Friday at 10:29 p.m. in a Beckley hospital after a long illness.
Born March 15, 1898, at Whitby she was a daughter of the late Delaware Meadows and Catherine Crawford Meadows.
A lifelong resident of Raleigh County, Mrs. Moomaw was a retired school teacher, having taught for 25 years in Raleigh County, a member of the National and State County Teachers Association, member of the Primative Baptist Church and postmistress with her husband for 10 years at Cherry Creek.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, E. J. Lilly in 1953 and C. L. Moomaw in 1978.
Survivors include three sons, Ted E. Lilly and Billy G. Lilly, both of Shady Spring and Ervin Russell Lilly of Stafford, Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Velma) McComas of Shady Spring; one brother, O. L. Meadows of Erlanger, Ky.; one sister, Mrs. Betsy Windon Redden of Beckley; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with the Rev. Joe Pizzino and Elder Kenna Lilly officiating. Burial will be in the Lilly Family Cemetery at Blue Jay.
Friends may call Monday after 6 p.m.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
