It is unclear what happened to James and Davenport's parents. It is possible they died between 1850-1860 and they are living with relatives in the 1860 census. Since they both appear in area of Reno, NV and Nevada County, CA, one suspects that they probably travelled together.
It is also unclear the spelling of the original surname. It is likely that James and Davenport adopted the spelling of "Machomich" for convenience, etc.
