The following information was discovered by Pamela Redig Mumma [E-mail Mumma6@yahoo.com] listed in the Mercersburg Journal, June 30, 1871

D.D. Mumma of Harrisburg, PA married Rose. Rose was killed in a horse accident in Mercersburg, Franklin Co., PA on 23 Jun 1871, age 20, while visiting. She and DD were only married two years. She is buried in the Greencastle Cemetery, Franklin Co., PA.
Rose (Hummel) Mumma married to DD Mumma of Harrisburg died June 23, 1871 in a horse accident in Franklin county, PA while visiting her cousin, George R. Kauffman, MD. She was 20 years old (according to the grave stone found in Franklin County, Pa) and had a one year old child (according to the obit). The obit does not say whether the child was a male or female. It does indicate that her father was Geo W. Hummel, Esq of Harrisburg.
In addition :
DD Mumma is listed in the article as an Assistant State Librarian, Harrisburg, PA. According to the article her death occured on Friday, June 23, 1871 and Rose's body was brought back to Harrisburg Saturday June 24 although there is record here in Franklin County that she was buried here in Franklin County. Apparently there was a change and she was buried in Harrisburg on June 26, 1871
Patriot news June 26, 1871 obit states:
"
Mumma- On Friday. June 23, 1871, near Greencastle, Mrs. Rosa K., wife of D. D. Mumma and daughter of Washington Hummel, esq. in the twenthieth year of her age.
The funeral will take place this afternoon at two o'clock from the residence of her father, No. 9 North Front Street. The friends and relatives are to attend.
