Her surname has been incorrectly recorded as MUMMA in the death records of she and her children. There is a marriage record for Louis UTTERMOHLEN and Dorette MOMME on 20 March 1871 in Hamilton Co., OH. Her name was clearly spelled as MOMME. It is possible that they never married in Germany and for whatever reason, felt compelled to do so at this time. It would not be surprising that her children would not have heard her maiden name spoken and simply used the MUMMA spelling for her name as there was a large contingency of Mummas living in Dayton Ohio, even to this day.
