Notes:
James Allen Mumaugh
-----------------------------
Sept. 28, 1946 - Feb. 10, 2013
Jim Mumaugh passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in June. He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 40 years, Joan. Jim was born in Oakland to parents, Jean and Bill (Norval) Mumaugh and was raised in Chico, CA. He served three and a half years in the U.S. Army and graduated Chico State College with a degree in Mathematics. He enjoyed his 30 years teaching at Vacaville High School, along with Joan and they both retired after a fulfilling career in education. After earning his Master's Degree he also taught at Solano College. Over the years he influenced thousands of students, encouraging excellence in his students to move forward to the next level. Over the years students made the trek to his home or wrote letters to tell Jim personally the influence and impact he had on their lives.
Jim and his wife Joan were quite sports minded, whether it was rooting for their favorite 49'ers and Giants teams or enjoying golf. As members of the Green Valley Country Club, Jim met and golfed with so many friends and fellow members. They also enjoyed traveling with many trips over their 40 years of marriage: camping, cruising, golfing, they loved it all!
In addition to his wife Joan, Jim leaves behind his nephew, Robert Laux, and his niece Sandra Laux Robinson, having raised them from their pre-teens. He also leaves behind his sister, Jan Mumaugh; sister-in-law/brother-in law, Richard and Robin Pierson; other nieces, Cindy Goodlett, Priscilla Laux, Heidi Pierson, and Holly Pierson Weber. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Bob and Mary Miller, and sister-in-law/brother-in-law, Nancy and William Laux.
He wore a wide smile, an infectious laugh, and shared a sense of humor. He made friends easily at home, at school, and on his many travels. Jim and Joan felt so blessed for all those special friends that gave of their time and talents to assist Jim during his final life journey.
A Memorial service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church in Vacaville on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. Private burial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Jim's name to the Wounded Warrior Project or the SPCA Solano County.
