Ruth R. (Fain) Mumaw of Palemetto, FL, has gone home to be with the Lord.
She was born October 28, 1918 in Nicholasville, KY to Gordon and Effie (Taylor) Fain. They moved to Kokomo, IN when she was five years of age.
On November 25, 1936 she married Kenneth A. Mumaw of Kokomo, who preceded her in death in 1998. Also preceding her in death were 2 brothers, Roland and Stanley Fain, 2 sisters, Opal and Annabelle, 4 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty Whitacre of Palmetto, FL, and Marcia Stroud of Converse, IN, two sons, and daughter-in-law, David A. and Virginia Mumaw of Kokomo, and Ray and Patty Mumaw of Greentown, IN, 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 38 great-great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-great grandchildren.
Before her marriage she worked as assistant teacher of kindergarten at the neighborhood house in Kokomo.
After her marriage she served as president of Jerome Christian Church Ladies' aid for two years, president of Macedonia Christian Church's Women's Council for two years, and president of Jackson Township Homemaker's club for two years.
Upon Kenneth's Retirement from Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo in 1974, they moved to Florida where she served as president of Suncoast Christian Church Ladies' aid for two years and as president of the Happy Homemakers club for three years.
They moved to her current mobile home park residence in 1977. As the first residence there she organized the Community Club and served one and half years as president, formed the Women's Club and served as president for one year, started the First Craft Class, helped start the First Shuffleboard Club, Began Community Potlucks, and ran a resident's Bingo night for twenty years.
She was a member of Ruskin Church of Christ in Florida for many years and was currently attending Westside Christian Church in Bradenton.
She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 14, 2011 at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 South Main Street, with Pastor Mike Greenwood officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the mortuary.
