Phyllis Voneda Mumaw, 90, Kokomo, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Golden Living Center. She was born April 18, 1931, in Howard County to the late Allan and Bernice (Cox) Rayls. On March 12, 1948, she married Richard G. Mumaw in Kokomo, who preceded her in death on December 19, 2009.
Phyllis retired from Delco Electronics and worked at several flower shops in Kokomo as a floral designer. She had an artistic and creative nature. Phyllis was a member of Abundant Life Church. In 2006, at the age of 75, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry from Indiana Christian University.
Phyllis is survived by her two children, Denise Johnson, and Gary (Nancy) Mumaw, both of Kokomo; sister, Shirley Lindsay, Rio Rancho, NM; 7 grandchildren, Charles (Brooke) Mumaw Jr., Mary (Ron Charles) Mumaw, Melissa (Josh) Douglass, Dennis (Katie) Johnson Jr., Justin (Jenna) Mumaw, Drew Mumaw, and Derek Mumaw; and 9 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Richard, Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; son; Charles A. Mumaw; sister, Marilyn Joan Warden; and brother, Jerry L. Rayls.
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Charlie Riley and Pastor Audry Gard officiating. Service will be live streamed and can be viewed on our website through her obituary page at www.stoutandstout.com. Friends may visit with the family from 10 am until the start of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Abundant Life Church in Phyllis' memory.
