Ruthetta M. (Bankert) Jones, 88, entered God's eternal care, Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 14, 1928 Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry F. and Carrie V. (Sterner) Bankert. Ruthetta was the loving wife of I. Dewey Jones who died December 23, 2003.
Ruthetta was a member of St. Bartholomew's United Church, ELCA, where she was involved with the Share and Care Committee as well as volunteered with the newsletter. She was a member of the National A.A.R.P. and local Chapter 4370 in New Oxford and a member of the class of 1946 at Eichelberger High School.
Mrs. Jones worked at the former Hanover Shoe Company, for the My Lisa Clothing Manufacturing Company, and then for the former Hanover House Company, in addition to being a homemaker and raising her family.
Ruthetta is survived by her two daughters, Debra K. Mumma and husband, E. David, Wendy S. Fritz and husband, Jeffrey E. all of Hanover; four grandchildren, Mark Fritz, Bryn Mumma, Tara Bryan, and Shea Mumma; eleven great-grandchildren, Hallie, Elijah, Bryce, Lyell, Van, Olivia, Molly, Nolan, Hudson, Kale, and Rowan. She was preceded in death by one sister, Dolores J. Bankert; and one brother, Burnell Bankert.
A service to celebrate and remember Ruthetta's life will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at St. Bartholomew's United Church, ELCA, 1204 Grand Valley Road, Hanover, PA, with her Pastor the Rev. Steven E. Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 1 ? 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruthetta's memory may be made to St. Bartholomew's United Church, ELCA, 1204 Grand valley Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
The Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA has been entrusted by the family with the funeral arrangements.
