Dorothy E. Harkless, 94 of Decatur passed away May 17, 2006 at Woodcrest Nursing Center . She was the daughter of the late Noah & Lillie (Hirschy) Fox. She was born in Adams County on July 27, 1911. Dorothy married Ben Harkless on June 23, 1940 and he passed away on April 24, 1981.
She was the mother of 2 sons Paul L. Harkless of Monroe, IN and Richard E. Harkless who died April 20, 2003; 2 daughters Mrs. Paul (Sharon) Smith of Decatur and Shirley J. Feller of Ft. Wayne. She has 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Preceded her also in death were 4 brothers Arthur, Herman, James and Gordon Fox.
Dorothy was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church and the Women's Missionary Fellowship. She also taught sunday school for years and played the piano.
Calling is 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday, May 19, 2006 at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to services at the church. Funeral service will be on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 10:00 am at the Cornerstone Community Church . Rev. Mark Beers will be officiating and burial is in Decatur Cemetery. Memorials are to the Church or Family Hospice of NE Indiana.
