Mary Lou Brown was born in Dayton, Ohio on December 7, 1922, and went home to the Lord on August 7, 2011, in Roseville, California. Her family moved to Atlanta, GA when she was in elementary school. She graduated from Girls High School in 1941. She then attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1945 at her father's alma mater, Miami University, in Ohio. She was a member of the sorority, Chi Omega. Music was her passion. She began playing piano at the age of five and didn't stop until less than two weeks before her death in spite of the relentless progression of Alzheimer's disease. In 1945 she was an accompanist for light opera productions in Atlanta. She also was the accompanist for voice students enrolled at the conservatory. She met John Brown, who was one such student at the conservatory and began dating him soon after his arrival. They were married on August 18, 1949 in Atlanta, GA. In 1957 they moved to Roseville, CA. Mary Lou's passion for music sustained her throughout her life. She has played the organ and piano over the years for several churches in the Atlanta and Roseville areas, including the First United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church,(now called Centerpoint Community Church), and First Baptist Church of Roseville. She was followed in death by her devoted husband, John, who passed away on December 25, 2013.
