Charles Mumma was admitted to St. John' Orphan Asylum in Philadelphia, PA, on 18 January 1890.(age 5) The orphanage records state: Timothy Murphy of Susquehanna County,, PA adopted Charles on 1 May 1897. His father's name was Joh H. Mummanand his mother's name was Catherine Trupp, Both parents were listed as beind "dead". The DNA Y chromosome test results from one of his descendants suggest he descends from immigrant Peter Mumma.. Additional autosomal DNA testiong identified Charles father to be John H. Mumma, 1864-1836.
