"Mary Jane Mumma, 87, of 10116 Sharpsburg Pike, Hagerstown, and formerly of Halfway, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Washington County Hospital. Born June 19, 1915, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Sanford Toby and Margie Estella Sprecher Gossard. Her husband, Samuel Calvin Mumma Sr., died in 1996. She was a 1933 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was employed at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Williamsport, where she participated in the New Beginnings Sunday Class and the Circle of Hope Missionary Society, and was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a member of AARP, Old Timers Club of Fairchild Aircraft, and past financial secretary of National and Local UAW 623 Retirees. She is survived by three sisters, Martha V. Delauder of Fairplay, and Dorothea J. Keadle and Margie E. Farley, both of Williamsport; three stepsons, Samuel Calvin Mumma Jr. of Dover, Del., Weldon R. Mumma of Mineral, Va., and Myles D. Mumma of Reno, Nev.; five stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Amanda I. Bowers; and two brothers, Charles M. Gossard and John T. Gossard. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport. The Rev. James E. Swecker will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Tuesday. Memorial donations may be made to Rehoboth United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 30 E. Salisbury St., Williamsport, MD 21795."
