Charles Wesley Hays homesteaded in Valley Township of Linn County, Kansas, and lived there until his death, which occurred in his home. He and Terrisee Moomaw were married in Ohio in 1854. They had five children, one having died as an infant. Their family was a credit to the community.
He was a Mason and lived according to the teachings of the order. He was an upright citizen and kindly neighbor.
After Terrisee's death, Charles Wesley married Mrs. N.P. Mcoullugh.
