David's marriage to Elizabeth Frey was recorded in the Pastorial records of Rev John Waldschmidt (1752-1786) as was the baptism of their child, David Mumma in 1790. Elizabeth's grandparents were the sponsors at the baptism . From the Will of Elizabeth's father, written in January of 1792, (See notes under Jacob Frey d. 1792) we know that Elizabeth was deceased, so she died sometime between the birth of David in January 1790 and January of 1792 when her father wrote his Will. Their other two children, Elizabeth and Catharine named in their grandfather's Will, were likely born in 1786 and 1788, the typical birth spacing for children.
Upon Elizabeth's death, David would have been faced with raising two young girls himself and, as was typical of the time, we expect he quickly remarried, this time to Rosina Beck. Their first child, Christian Mumma (Mumaw) was born on 26 Apr 1792. This would support a likely marriage of David and Rosina between 1790-1791.
The death of David's first son, David, is further supported by the fact that David and his second wife also named one of their son's, David. Not an uncommon thing to do iwhen an earlier child dies. No need to waste a good name!
David and Rosina moved to Virginia about 1799-1800 where they raised their family.
