Obituary
Austin L. McNeal
NEW MARKET - Austin Lee McNeal, 84, passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 21, 2004, at Life Care Center of New Market.
He was born Aug. 27, 1919, at New Market, son of the late William J. and Sarah Dove McNeal.
Mr. McNeal was a charter member of Forestville-Quicksburg Ruritan Club and a life member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church west of New Market, where he sang in the choir for many years and served on church council and Sunday school secretary. He retired from Mt. Jackson Farm Service in 1985 after 28 years of service.
On Nov. 19, 1944, he married Rosalee Moomaw, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters and their husbands, Judy and Gary Golladay of Edinburg and Sue and Bob Foltz of Mt. Jackson; a granddaughter and her husband, Michele and Roger Getz; two great-grandsons, Austin and Owen Getz, all of Maurertown; a niece; two nephews and numerous cousins.
Pastor George Feldman will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at St. Martin's Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the Zirkle Cemetery, west of New Market.
Serving as pallbearers will be Fred Garber, Warren Hepner, Bill Wilkins, Fred Neese, Merrill Ware and Garry Will.
The family will receive friends at the McNeal residence at anytime. Friends may also call and sign the register book at the Theis Funeral Chapel in New Market.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging, 207 Mosby Lane, Front Royal 22630 in Mr. McNeal's memory for the home care they provided.
