Age 90, passed peacefully October 1, 2017. Born June 27, 1927 in NE Ohio, daughter of Clyde and Anna Blanchard, she was raised on a farm. Her love of learning started in a one-room country school house, and continued throughout her life. In 1949 she married the love of her life, Richard. In addition to raising three children she was in League of Women Voters, Meals on Wheels, a founder of Harvest Happening, active member of Clarence United Methodist Church, part owner of Emporium Gift and Christmas Shop in Clarence Center, and created 30 scarecrows for the continuing scarecrow festival in Clarence Hollow. Predeceased by her husband and 3 siblings. Survived by her sons David Earl (Ellen), James F. (Joy) and daughter Kathryn D., 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 6th, 11 a.m. at Clarence United Methodist Church, 10205 Greiner Rd., Clarence, NY, followed by luncheon in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Clarence/Newstead Meals on Wheels.
