Mumma
Emanuel Brewer Mumma, son of Wm and Sarah Pumphrey Mumma, was born Jan 14, 1879, in Bethlehem in Wayne County and departed this life Sept. 26 at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 12 days.
On March 18, 1902, he was united in marriage with Grace Teegarden who preceded him in death on May 2, 1956. To this union four children were born, Keith Eugene of Allerton, who passed away April, 1961, Mrs. Ruth Grange of Indianola, Kenneth Clyde of Aurora, Colo., and William Thomas of West Des Moines.
On June 26, 1957, he married Eva Calef. Surviving are his widow Eva, two sons and one daughter; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 3 stepsons; 2 stepdaughters and his sister Mamie Davis of Fort Dodge.
He spent his entire life in Wayne County until retirement to Chariton 15 years ago. He was a loving and devoted father and husband. He became a Christian while yet a young man and at his death was a member of the First Methodist church in Chariton. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beardsley Funeral Home. The Rev. Lester Hall officiated. Interment was in the Corydon Cemetery.
