Emery L. Bear
Emery L. Bear, son of Amos and Mintie Bear, was born on a farm nea r Detroit, February 2, 1889. As a result of a heart attack he passe d away January 1, 1946, at Oakland, Calif., aged 56 years and 11 mont hs.
On August 24, 1918, he was united in marriage with Clara Geske. T o this union 5 children were born: Arlene, Velma, Leslie, Edsel and E va.
The family made its home and engaged in farming at Niles, until i n 1935 they moved to Salina where Mr. Bear owned and operated a groce ry store. For the past four years he has made his home with his elde st daughter, Mrs. Curtis B. Silver, at 441 Merrit avenue, Oakland, Ca lif. During this time he was employed in the Richmond Kaiser Ship Ya rds, excepting that during the past six months he has held the positi on of office clerk in an Oakland hotel.
Mr. Bear is survivied by his five children, Mrs. Arlene M. Silver , Mrs. Velma N. Engle, Miss Eva Bear, all of Oakland, Calif; Chief Yo eman Lislie L. Bear stationed at Norfoldk, VA., and Edsel Amos Bear , AM 2-c, stationed at Naval Air Station, Alemeda, Calif. He is als o survived by a sister, Mrs. Viola Eyers of Corcoran Calif., and on e brother Paul R. Bear of Abilene.
Funeral services were held January 8, at the Eicholtz Funeral Hom e with the Rev. G.E. Whisler officiating. Burial was in the Bethel c emetery. Pall bearers were Ota Woodson, Hayes Blair, Earl Elliot, Ge orge Seaman, Victor Insersoll and Fred Earl.
