Abilene Historical Society, Obituary PAUL R. BEAR
Paul R. Bear, a longtime area resident, died Wednesday evening, Sept 12 at the Abilene Memorial Hospital. He was 83 years of age.
Mr. Bear was born April 15, 1896, in the Chapman Community, the son of Amos and Minnie Bear. In 1916 he was married to Bertha Kinney . All of their married life was spent farming south of Abilene. She preceded him in death July 27, 1962.
He continued to make his home on the farm until his death. Mr. Bear was a member of the Abilene Brethren In Christ Church.
Mr. Bear was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Pitts. She died in June of 1978.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Verna Ottensmeier of Abilene; three sons, Harmond P. Bear of Terra Bella, Calif., Phillip A. Bear of McClouth, Kans, and Dale R. Bear of Syracuse, N.Y.; 13 granchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, Sept 15, at 2 p.m. from the Danner Funeral Home. The Rev. Henry Landis will officiate and internment will be in the Abilene Cemetery.
