John Elias Warfel

John Elias Warfel, 84, of Middletown, went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2009 after an extended illness. He was the devoted husband of Fay Koller Warfel, to whom he was married for almost 60 years.
Born December 21, 1924 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late John and Sylvia Mumma Warfel.
John worked as a foreman and sheet metal worker for Leroy Roofing Company in Harrisburg, PA for 37 years, before retiring to enjoy a life of world travel and winters camping in the southern states. He was a 1942 graduate of Hershey High School. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps having served in the European Theatre during World War II. Along with being an avid reader, he also enjoyed various documentaries about wildlife.
In addition to his wife Fay, he is survived by five sons, John A. Warfel married to Susan Mummah Warfel of Milton; David B. Warfel of Middletown; Robert E. Warfel of Steelton; Thomas P. Warfel of Columbus, Ohio; Mark A. Warfel married to Kathleen Morton Warfel of Cherry Hill, NJ; and two daughters, LeeAnn Roling-Bauder married to Marcel Roling of Rockville, MD and MaryEllen Bauder married to Anthony Cosanella of Studio City, CA. He is also survived by four granddaughters, Heather Warfel, Allison Warfel Acheson, Rebekah Warfel, and Lauren Roling, and two grandsons, Toby Warfel and Lucas Warfel. Also surviving are brothers, Richard (Patsy) Warfel and Charles (Kristine) Suloff, and sisters, Evelyn Pierce, Shirley Roth, Kay (Richard) Dicks, and Barbara (Charles) Heineman. His sister, Annabelle Meredith, and two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Roth and Ellis Meredith, preceded him in death.
He attended the Hershey Evangelical Free Church for over 25 years.
A Memorial Service honoring John's life will be held at Hershey Evangelical Free Church, 310 Hilltop Road, Hummelstown, PA ( www. hersheyfree.com) on Saturday, May 2, 2009. Visitation will commence at 9 AM. The memorial service will follow at 11 AM. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hershey Evangelical Free Church
