MARGARET ST. SURE (PEGGY) MUMMA
---------------------------------------------------
MUMMA, MARGARET (PEGGY) ST. SURE - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Peggy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 surrounded by her family. Peggy was born on August 1, 1930, daughter of the late Dr. Frank St. Sure and Florence, and great-great granddaughter of Laurent de Gouvion Saint-Cyr, a marshall in Napoleon Bonaparte's army, minister of war from 1814 to 1819, and also great-granddaughter of Adolf Frederick, former chancellor of Sweden. Her father, Frank, was the past president of the San Diego Medical Society and a prominent surgeon in the war years. Her mother was a registered nurse. She graduated from the Academy of Our Lady of Peace, and Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles. On April 7, 1950, she married Joseph Mumma and they were married for fifty five wonderful years. Joe passed away in 2005. Peggy was a life member of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, Country Friends, Immaculate Heart College Alumni and Our Lady of Peace Academy Alumni Member. Her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren. Time spent with them was precious, Peggy loved her world travels with Joe, but her favorite place was spent in Palm Springs with her family. She is survived by her son, Larry Mumma (Missy), daughter, Debby Kirk (Mike), grandchildren, Greg, Brian, Ashley, Jake, Chelsea, great-grandchild Landon Joseph and her brother Frank St. Sure (Carolyn). A private memorial service was held on February 28, 2012 at the Old Mission San Luis Rey. We would like to thank Elizabeth, Flor, Dr. Carsten, Dr. Redfield, Dr. Schwendig, and all the wonderful other doctors and staff at Scripps Hospitals for their terrific care in her past and final days.
