WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Eva Marie Hendershot, 86, of Mountain Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.
Born July 16, 1921, in Oakland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Bernice Moomaw Shaffer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Hendershot, who died June 25, 1980.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Buck Valley Christian Church, where she served as deacon and was a member of the Women's Group.
She is survived by three daughters, Janice K. Curtis of Little Orleans, Md.; Patricia Thomas of Greencastle, Pa.; Ellen Ward of Warfordsburg, Pa.; two sons, Robert Hendershot of Hancock and James R. Hendershot of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one sister, Catherine Merrill of Oakland, Md.; three brothers, Daryl Shaffer of North Carolina, Wade Shaffer of Hagerstown and Oliver Shaffer of Deer Park, Md.; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Charlene Hendershot and Patience McBee, and one son, Harry Hendershot.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Buck Valley Christian Church of Warfordsburg. The Rev. Scott Gibbs will officiate. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home in Hancock and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday. The funeral home will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday for the convenience of family and friends.
