DEATH OF MRS. M. A. PLATT
-----------
On Wednesday last, Mrs. Mary A. Platt, mother of Messrs. G.W. and H.P. Platt of this city, departed this earth at the age of 76 years, 6 months, and 9 days. She had been a sufferer for the last three years with that much dreaded disease, cancer, which she bore with patience and trusting that when her sufferings were ended on earth, she would have a peaceful rest in heaven with Christ in whom she so fully trusted. The deceased was born Stark county, Ohio, where she and her older sister assisted their parents in clearing the thick forest and making a making a home. She married the late Henry Platt in 1844, and moved to Wyandotte county, Ohio, in the year 1816, settling near upper Sandusky, on what was known as the Indian reserve before the Indians were brought out. Five boys were the result of the union, four surviving her - one lives in Indiana, another in Illinois and the oldest and youngest are citizens of Brunswick, the family having removed, here in 1889, the husband dying one year ago.
The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at the Christian church. Elder J. P Furnish and Rev. J. R. A. Vaughn officiating. A large number of the friends of the family were present to testify their respect for a kind mother, a faithful friend and an earnest Christian. The interment was made in Elhott Grove cemetery beside the remains of her late husband.
