Mildred Irene Kollars Burress Zionsville, formerly of Lebanon and Lima, Ohio, passed away Thursday morning Oct. 6, 2005 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital, Indianapolis. Born January 20, 1911, she was 94. She was born in Warsaw, IN to Minnie and Peter Mumma. She grew up in Lebanon and moved with her family to Lima, Ohio. In Feb. 1930 she married Howard Kollars of Lima. During WWII, she oversaw several government daycare nurseries provided for working mothers. Then she became comptroller for the Leader Department Store, which is now Elder-Beerman in Lima. Her professional organizations were the VFW Auxiliary, which she was a Past President and she was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Organization of Lima. Upon retirement, she married R. Oran Burress of Lebanon in 1973. Both husbands preceded her in death, along with her brothers, Bill, Sam and Jack Mumma. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Virginia (Keven) Henkaline of Zionsville and five grandchildren, Jeff, Kim, Nancy, Cindy and Heidi; sisters Betty Wieser, JoAnn Rhoades, Mary Joe Warren and Pat Price, Indianapolis. Mildred has 17 great-grandchildren, who all adored her. She had a delightful sense of humor, enjoyed sports, doing word puzzles, fishing, keeping up with current events and was an avid reader. Viewing will be at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center - Zionsville, Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 10 a.m., with funeral services following at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor Gene Johnson. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon.
