DORIS G. (SKEELS) MATTHEWS -MUMA
Mrs. Doris G. (Matthews) Muma, 73, of 12825 Maple Valley Rd., Gladwin, died Wednesday, July 9, in Hurley Medical Center, Flint, after an illness of six months. Born in Clare County on June 30, 1907, she had spent most of her life in Gladwin County. She was married to Cecil Matthews on June 11,1924 and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1968. She than married Harry Muma on June 29, 1975, in Gladwin.
Besides her husband, she is survived by 3 sons, Leland of Flushing, Melvin of Swartz Creek and Fred of Harrison; 3 daughters, Mrs. Robert (Ethel) Sharp of Harrison, Mrs. Roland (Thelma) Hayes of Swartz Creek and Mrs.James (Shirley) Toombs of Davison; 8 step-sons, Leonard Matthews of Owosso, James, Charley, Stanley, Delmer, Aaron Muma of Gladwin, Nelson Muma of Mt. Morris and Harold Muma of Flint; 4 step-daughters, Iris Matthews, Mrs. Zelma Bullard, Mrs. Vera French and Mrs. Fredia Kish, all of Gladwin; 72 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren. Two daughters, Maxine and Zelta Matthews and a son Delvin Matthews also preceded her in death.
Services were held Saturday at1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Carl Briggs officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
