We know that Jacob Hertzler married Mary Mumma after Mary's father's death because the marriage is not acknowledged in his Will (Lancaster Will book E, vol 1, page 368). From her mother's Will (Barbara Weber Mumma - Lancaster Will book F, vol 1, page 78] we learn that Mary became the wife of Jacob Hirtzler and the she remained at home "9 years over her age with her parents". If we assume that "her age" means 18 years old, and that she was still at home until her father, Leonard Mumma, died, we can estimate her birth year. Father's death was 1786 at which time she would have been "9 years over the age of 18". Therefore 1786 - (18 + 9) = 1759
Maria died shortly after her marriage to Jacob Hertzler and was still owed money from her brother, Henry. Jacob Hertzler stipulated in his Will (1794) that Maria's portion of the monies due from her brother Henry should be distributed to the children of her brothers, George and David.
Robert Moomaw's 1991 book, page 7, lists Anne Marie Mumma marrying Jacob Hertzler as having a child by the name of Jacob Hertzler, born 1808. Clearly this is in error and is incorrect since both of them are deceased by 1808. There is also a Anna Mumma listed as marrying a Jacob Hertzler on page 5 of Robert's book, but this Anna is a descendant of immigrant Jacob Mumma. There are further errors which are discussed under the notes for Anna Mumma, b. 1808
