PEORIA -- George Edward Mumaugh, 68, of Murphysboro, formerly of Peoria, died at 10:14 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
Born March 19, 1929, in Brandsville, Mo., to Francis and Ruth May McClintock Mumaugh, he married Wanda Marie Cochran Trotter on Aug. 31, 1989, in St. Mary, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Royce of Canton, Terry of Queen Creek, Ariz., and Allen of Stockwood, Ga.; one stepson, Kenneth Trotter of Murphysboro; his stepmother, Thursye Roberts of Brookline, Mo.; one sister, Ruth Puralewski of Chicago; one half sister, Ida Mae Mumaugh of Brookline; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandson. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
An Army veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 2 in Peoria.
He was a laborer for 30 years, retiring in 1991. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight and from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ava Evergreen Cemetery in Ava, where military rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Lone Oak Cemetery in rural Ava.
