Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday November 30, 2004 at United Methodist Church in Dighton.
Interment: Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors: Lucille is survived by one son, Neil and wife Sara McWhirter of Dighton. One grandson, Kenyon and wife Sonya McWhirter of Dighton. Three granddaughters; Teara McWhirter of Dighton, Marlece and husband Tim O'Brien of Dighton and Regina and husband Keith Ming of Dighton. Two great-granddaughters; Madison and Kenadee O'Brien of Dighton and two brothers; Donald Mumma of Salida, Colorado and Chester Mumma of Longmontm, Colorad
Lucille died at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. Lucille lived her entire life in Lane County. She was born on a farm southwest of Dighton the daughter of George and Lelah (Lawrence) Mumma. At the age of two she moved with her family to a farm seven miles northwest of Dighton where she grew up and attended a small country school. She attended high school in Dighton and graduated in 1938. Lucille was married to Elgin C. McWhirter on February 7, 1940 at Scott City, he died on May 30, 2004. She and her husband moved to a farm southwest of Dighton where she has resided since. Lucille spent her life working side by side with her husband. She also was an avid worker in the kitchen for varioys functions at the Methodist Church, until her health prevented that. In her spare time, she pieced quilts and crocheted afghans, etc. for her many relatives and friends. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Delmar Mumma and one sister, Irene Houghton.
Memberships: Lucille was a member of the United Methodist Church of Dighton and the National Wildlife Society.
