Charles A. Hershey, 74, 46 East Middle Street, a former Adams County commissioner, died at the Warner hospital Sunday night at 11:00 of complications. He had been ill for several years and was admitted to the hospital February 5.
A native of Adams county, he lived all of his life here. He was a son of the late Abraham and Hosannah Eyster Hershey and for the past 12 years resided in Gettysburg after returning from his occupation of farming and livestock dealing.
A member of the Gettysburg Elks, he was also a member of the Cashtown fire company.
His wife the former Alice Deardorff, to whom he was married 52 years, survives as do the following children, Mrs. James B Jones, Arlington, Va.; Mrs. J. Robert Davidson, Dele Glade, Fla.; Lt. Col. J. Richard Hershey, U.S. Army, Lass Field, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Mrs. William Ridinger, Easton.
Also surviving are five grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters, Samuel E. Hershey, Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. David Brown, Orrtanna R.D., Laban E. Hershey, Gettysburg R. D.; Mrs. Hermie W. Zobler, Gettysburg, and Mrs. Ella M. Mumma, Laverne, Calif.
Funeral services Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 from the Bender funeral home with the Rev. George B. Ely officiating. Interment in Flohr?s cemetery.
