NOTICE: Through DNA testing of men with the Mummy\Mummey\Mumy surname, I have been able to determine that Samuel was originally born with the MUMMY surname and thus he and his descendants are not "genetically" related to the MUMMA family - Doug Mumma doug@mumma.org -researcher of this family.

A Samuel Mumma appears in the Civil War muster rolls of the Tenth Regiment, Company F, Recruited at Lykenstown, Dauphin PA
Mustered in April 26, 1861
Washington Rifles

It is unclear whether or not this is the Samuel Mumma who served in the Civil War. Another Samuel Mumma, b. abt 1844, appears in the 1880 Census of Lykens. It is not known whether this other Samuel is this Samuel's son. Because of their ages, I believe it was this Samuel who served in the Civil War.
The following was contained in the pension records
----------------------
"Samuel Mumma enlisted under the name of Samuel Mumma at Harrisburg, PA , on the 26th day of April A.D. 1861, in Co. "F" 10th Reg't Penna (Infantry) and served at least ninety days in the last was of the Rebellion, [and] was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Harrisburg, PA July 30th, A.D. 1861."[Declaration for Widow's Pension - filed by Ann Mumma Jan 1891]
"That she was married under the name of Ann Dallins, to Samuel Mumma, in 1839 by at Mifflin, Mifflin Co., PA there being no legal barrier to such marriage, neither of them having been married before." [Note: It is likely that they were married in Mifflin Township of Dauphin Co., PA, not Mifflin County. I believe this was simply an error on the part of the lawyer who rcorded the information in the "Declaration for Widow's Pension.] Ann was 71 when she made the above marriage statement on July 10th 1890, making her birthdate abt. Jul 1819.

Note: Wiconisco Township was incorporated from Lykens Twp. 2 July 1839 and it included the town of Lykens. This can lead to confusion. St. John's Lutheran Church and Cemetery is located near Berrysburg, Mifflin Township, Dauphin County, PA
