Stephen F. Mumma
OBITUARY
Stephen Fletcher Mumma passed peacefully on January 6, 2026 in Lincoln, CA. He was born September 9, 1942, to Thomas and Gladys Mumma of Arbuckle, CA. Stephen and his future wife, Barbara (DeBolt) went to Pierce High School in Arbuckle where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was enshrined in the Colusa County Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. Stephen and Barbara went on to SJSU where they married and started a family. Stephen played center and linebacker for the Spartans and graduated in 1965.
Stephen was a PE teacher and coached football, tennis, and golf at James Lick High School for more than 20 years where he made life-long friends with fellow coaches and players. He went on to coach football at Santa Theresa High School until retiring in 2002.
Retiring together, Stephen (aka ?Pop?) and Barbara moved to Lincoln Hills, a golfing retirement community. Pop enjoyed jogging 6-miles every morning at 5:30am, playing golf with his Lincoln friends? group and family 3 days a week, going to the gym every day at 3:00pm.
Pop and his family spent 50 summers together in North Lake Tahoe. He enjoyed boating & water skiing, decades of family reunions, hosting tennis tournaments with long-time Bay Area friends, and golfing with his son and grandchildren. Everyone Stephen knew throughout his life has a ?Pop? story that is usually filled with laughter. His family really enjoys reliving Pop stories whenever they are all together, and will continue that forever. He lived a great, fun-filled life.
Stephen was predeceased by his parents, brothers Sydney Mumma and Lanny Mumma. He leaves a sister, Barbara Allen. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, daughter Jordan Derby (Gregg) and son Kurt Mumma (Tracy), as well as his grandchildren Stephen Derby (Stephanie) and Kalyn Mumma-Maloney (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Joc and Ronnie Derby.
