Thomas L. Mumma died Saturday, June 4, 2005 at age 91.
Mr. Mumma was born Jan. 1, 1914 in Arbuckle. He studied aeronautical engineering at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. During World War II he worked in the Mare Island Shipyards. He ran the family farm in the Arbuckle area for 55 years. At the age of 60 he earned his private pilot's license. He was a member of the Dunnigan Water Board, the Dunnigan Fire Commission and a trustee of the Pierce High School. Also he was a member of the Dunnigan Volunteer Fire Department until he retired at the age of 90.
Survivors include Mr. Mumma's daughter, Barbara Allen of Mountain View; his sons, Sid Mumma and family friend Patricia Frazier of Dunnigan, Stephen Mumma and his wife Barbara of Lincoln and Stewart Mumma and his wife Susan of Arbuckle; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and his brother, Donald Mumma and his wife Louis of Arbuckle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Gladys Mumma; his son, Lance Mumma and his sister, Evelyn Mumma.
The family requests memorials in Mr. Mumma's name be directed to the Dunnigan Fire Department or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m., today, Wednesday at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Arbuckle. Burial will follow at the Arbuckle Cemetery. McNary-Moore Funeral Services of Colusa is assisting the family with arrangements.
