Notes:
Summary of will of Elizabeth Bower (Lancaster County Will Books) - provided by David F. Bower, doctordave53@yahoo.com
Written January 22, 1809
Reference to bequeath by husband Nicholas Bower to be divided among his children. A number precedes the word "children" but it is illegible. See note below.
Elizabeth leaves her estate to her six children: Susanna Muma; Catherine; and the three children of Jacob vizt. Jacob, John, and Abraham; and Elizabeth; Christian; and John. She orders that her six children shall have the estate divided equally into six parts, that is to say Susanna Muma, Catherine, Jacob's three children one part, and Elizabeth my daughter and my son Christian and my son John.
She leaves to Catherine and Elizabeth her large copper wash kettle and her large wash tub.
Andrew Gerber and Henry Stouffer are executors.
Will processed March 10, 1813.
Notes:
Nicholas Bower died on or about August 4, 1784. His will lists eight children: Barbara, Mary, Susannah (who married a Mumma), Catherine, Jacob (who died before 1809 and left three children ? Jacob, John, Abraham), Elizabeth, Chrristian, John. It is possible that Nicholas was married prior to marriage with Elizabeth and had daughters Barbara and Mary, then had six children with Elizabeth. If this is the case, then the number preceding "children" in Elizabeth's will would be 2.
