Notes:
McCurdy name was found in Mrs. Anna R. Hann's obituary. "She was the daughter of Jacob and Sarah (McCurdy) Mumma."
In the newspaper under local news is found
Mrs. Mumma, wife of the late General Mumma, died one day last week. She was about sixty-five years of age, and a very estimable lady. Fulton Republic, Thursday March 8 1877 (P3, first column)
In the same issue Her obituary reads:
DIED
MUMMA - On Sunday the 25th day of Feb, 1877, in Licking Creek township, Mrs. Sarah Mumma, aged 68 years. Fulton Republic, Thursday March 8 1877 (P3, 4rth column)
Her tombstone reads as follows:
"SARAH L.
Wife of J Mumma
Died Feb 25 1877
aged about 68 year.
Rest mother rest in quiet sleep
While friends in sorrow o'er thee weep
The sweet remembrance of the just
Shall flourish when thee sleep in dust"
The middle initial is clearly an L. Records found at the FCHS indicated an R.
Buried in Green Hill Presbyterian Cemetery between her husband Jacob and Infant Hockensmith. (Their youngest daughter married a Hockensmith. Could this be their baby?) To the right of Infant Hockensmith is oldest son Thomas and his wife Martha. At the end of this row of tombstones hidden from view near the fence is a stone that says infant son of JT Sheeder and A_ Mumma (we do not know who this Mumma is.) Personal visit to cemetery in October 2001, Keith and Pamela Mumma
Upon Sarah's death the legal documents found in the Fulton County Courthouse indicate that Thomas J. owed her 11.14, David owed her 213.45, Hockensmith owed her 106.50, Jacob Hann owed her 15.

(Rhoda McCurdy is the only McCurdy listed on the Fulton County Historical Society Cemetery Listing, dated 1997. I do not know if this is her maiden name or married name. Sarah McCurdy married Jacob Mumma and moved to Fulton. Are they related somehow? They could not be sisters since Sarah was the youngest sister being born before 1815 when her brother James was born. James is the only brother and at this date I do not know who he married and if he married. The odd thing is where they each lived. Rhoda being buried in Burnt Cabins I assume she lived there and Sarah lived in Licking Creek twp. Very distinct parts of the county. Note by Pamela Mumma, mumma6@yahoo.com, June 2003)
