Dr. B. Jean Walker

Dr. B. Jean Walker, 60, of Lake Meade, Latimore Twp. died Wednesday September 26, 2007 in Harrisburg Hospital surrounded by her loving husband and children.
She is best remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, administrator, and mentor dedicated to serving others and making a difference in the lives of children.
Jean was Superintendent of Schools for Cumberland Valley School District. She taught in public schools in Maryland, Virginia and Georgia; taught, and then became a Principal in West Shore School District and was then commissioned as Assistant Superintendent at Elizabethtown Area School District. In addition, she previously worked at Harrisburg Area Community College, Edu-Care Services, and the Navy Ships Parts Control Center where she was Director of Pre-School. She was a graduate of Frostburg State College, B.A.; Georgia State University, M.Ed.; and Lehigh University, D.Ed.
Jean was born October 4, 1946 in Hagerstown, MD to Lewis W. and Dorine L. (Haynes) Mumma of Hagerstown, MD.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Walker; two sons, Blake Jason Henry and wife, Lisa of Princeton, NJ and Matthew E. Henry and wife, Donna of Exton, PA; two step-sons, Joseph M. Walker of Warrenton, VA and Christopher P. Walker of Seattle, WA; a step-daughter, Jeanine M. Walker of Houston, TX; two brothers, Ronald W. Mumma of Alexandria, VA and Donald B. Mumma of San Antonio, TX; a sister, Linda J. Barnhart of Clear Spring, MD; seven grandchildren; and a large extended family.
A visitation will be held on Friday September 28, 2007 from 3 to 6 p.m. in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 29, 2007 from 4 to 7 p.m. at her lake house.
