"MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Betty Mae Dorty, 76, of 14100 Dickeys Road, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Mountain View Specialty Care Nursing Center, Greensburg, [Westmoreland Co.] Pa. Born July 4, 1927, in Fort Loudon, [Franklin Co.] Pa., she was the daughter of the late Simon M. and H. Grace Mumma Ryder. She assisted her husband in farming. She attended Charlestown United Methodist Church of Cove Gap, Pa. She is survived by her husband, Paul E. Dorty, whom she married April 17, 1948; three daughters, Judy A. McKee and Bonnie K. Bradnick, both of Mercersburg, and Joyce E. Hampton of Lemasters, Pa.; two sons, Roger L. Dorty of Orrtanna, Pa., and Gary E. Dorty of Fort Loudon; one sister, Janet Wilmert of Chambersburg; two brothers, William Ryder of Mercersburg and Charles Ryder of Holidaysburg, Pa.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother and two half brothers. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg. The Revs. Floyd E. Myers and David L. Bradnick will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. Viewing will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Charlestown United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 105, Mercersburg, PA 17236."
