Notes:
Mary's birth year has been determined from the 1850-1880 census and suggests that she was likely born about 1826. This year was confirmed from her McDonough County death certificate.

Sometime between the 1856, the birth of Jane and the birth in 1858 of daughter, Sarah, the family migrated from Franklin County, Pennsylvania to Schuyler Co., IL: where they were enumerated in the 1860 census. They are found in 1870 & 1880 in Bethel Twp, McDonough Co., IL:. They lived near Doddsville which is on the county line border between Schuyler and McDonough Counties so they probably lived in the same general location all the time. Another Mumma family (Benjamin Franklin Mumma) also lived in McDonough County in the late 1860's, but this family migrated on to Saline, NE around 1872.

After Mary's husband, David Mumma, died in Nebraska in 1887, Mary returned to Illinois sometime between 1890 and 1893. She is listed in the 1900 census of McDonough Co., IL:. There is a letter on file in her husband's estate papers in Nebraska which she wrote to her son, John Mumma, in 1893 relinquishing any claim to the small balance of funds in her husband's estate. The letter was written by a "B.L. Botchtsk" because Mary could not write and she signed with an "X".
